Edgewood Historic Cemetery

Established in 1861, Edgewood Historic Cemetery is located at 989 E. High Street. Many do not realize the Borough of Pottstown does not provide any funding to the cemetery.  Without steady donations and volunteer-powered cleanups, the grounds would again be terribly overgrown as they were when the cemetery was abandoned in 2012. The cost to keep the grass mowed is about $20,000 each year. The final resting place for more than 4,800 souls, Edgewood’s graves include veterans of the Civil War, Spanish-American War, the Great War, World War II, and the Korean Conflict, among other U.S. Servicemen and Servicewomen.

Clean & Safe

Edgewood Historic Cemetery

Hobart’s Run joined forces with the Friends of Edgewood Historic Cemetery in 2018, and we are proud to say the condition of the officially abandoned cemetery has improved dramatically, thanks to fall and spring community cleanups and fundraisers such as “Walks to Remember” – living history tours of important individuals buried on the cemetery’s 12 acres. All funds designated to Edgewood are used to keep the grass mowed and help with other vital upkeep.

"How Can I Help Hobart's Run?"

There are many ways to get involved – from volunteering for a cleanup, participating in neighborhood meetings, serving as a block captain, or making a financial contribution that will help us fund our community initiatives.

Hobart's Run (a 501(c)(3) neighborhood initiative) was launched by The Hill School to create a clean and safe community; foster inclusivity; provide incentives for home ownership and property pride; and generate quality business development.
